Possible prospects of XSH 3

• Replacing RecDescent with lex/yacc could reduce start-up and parsing time significantly

• Direct XSH → Perl/byte-code compilation would most certainly improve run-time performance

• But there's the “Ultimate solution” at hand -- port XSH to Parrot (the next-generation VM for Perl6 and other languages)

• What about Mono/.NET or C? Definitely not my cup of tee!
